mga8, x64
10-Core Intel Core i9-7900X
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Rebooted with the server kernel after a session with the linus kernel. Mate desktop shows up intact apart from the need to launch Falkon again. All other well-used applications are working as before. Bluetooth audio working out of the box. vlc showing free-to-air television. No issues with virtualbox, firefox, thunderbird, LO writer, LO draw, glmark2, NFS shares, CUPS and wireless printing, ruby, emacs, kmahjongg, backups to USB device....

System as in comment 2.
Smooth transition to the desktop kernel with updated firmware. Reconnected to bluetooth audio speaker. NFS shares mounted. Everything else seems to be OK.
Comment 4 Thomas Andrews 2023-01-16 17:38:31 CET
Tested the i586 desktop kernel on Foolishness, my Dell Inspiron 5100, P4, Radeon RV200 graphics, Atheros-based wifi, 32-bit Xfce system.

No installation issues, and no issues noted after the reboot.

MGA8-64 MATE on Acer Aspire 5253
Installed server kernel only, not the desktop, but all other stuff I took with.
Rebooted, found out that once more grub did not have the new version, used MCC to seelect the default, rebooted, now the new server is running. MATE desktop is OK, Wifi and internet works OK.
Further testing tomorrow.

HP Pavilion 15 N-211dx, AMD A8-4555 APU with HD 7600 graphics, rtl8188ee wifi, MGA8-64 Plasma.

HP Probook 6550b, i3 M350, Intel graphics, bcm43224 wifi(using broadcom-wl), MGA8-64 Plasma.

Desktop with i5-2500, Intel graphics, wired Internet and Ralink MT7601U wifi, MGA8-64 Plasma.

Desktop with AMD Phenom II X4 910, AMD HD 8490 graphics, Atheros AR928X wifi, MGA8-64 Plasma.

Dell Dimension e520, Intel Core2Quad Q6600, AMD HD 8570 graphics, rtl8192cu wifi, MGA8-64 and MGA8-32 Plasma.

No installation issues on any of these systems. All modules requiring dkms were rebuilt without difficulty. Firmware packages were updated at the same time. After the reboot in each case, tried this and that, with no problems. Have been using the first three systems for a couple of days now, with no issues to report.

x86_64 OK here

Hardware: My venerable workstation "svarten": Mainboard: Sabertooth P67, CPU: i7-3770, RAM 16G, GM107 [GeForce GTX 750] using nvidia-current; GeForce 635 series and later, 4k display. Disk&Filesystem: SSD with /boot/EFI and ext4 /boot, LUKS{LVM {swap, ext4 /home & / } and a spinner at /mnt/spinner

Updated using:
$ LC_ALL=C sudo urpmi.update 'Core Updates Testing' && LC_ALL=C sudo urpmi --downgrade --search-media 'Core Updates Testing' lib64bpf0 cpupower kernel-userspace-headers kernel-desktop-latest kernel-desktop-devel-latest virtualbox-kernel-desktop-latest

Tested: Plasma desktop; using Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Ktorrent, Nextcloud client, Syncthing, Firefox ESR (video ok) java program FriBOK

Tests OK as VirtualBox 7.0.4 Host, guests running concurrently

Guest 1: my usual MSW7pro-64, tests OK: dynamic guest window resizing, bidirectional clipboard, host shared folders both bidirectional and write protection checked, USB2 memory stick read&write (without upstream extension pack), video playing OK in Firefox, drag file from host Dolphin to guest Explorer. Windows update.

Guest 2: Mageia 8 -64, Xfce. Full update to normal updates. Then also kernel-5.15.88-desktop-1 and reboot. Internet video in Firefox. Bidirectionally shared clipboard. USB stick read and write.
