this is a regression from alpha1 .isos. it worked fine there.

this issue appears to be different from bug 18972. there is no response at all from the touch pad or "mouse keys"
Comment 5 Lewis Smith 2023-01-01 21:56:04 CET
These are not the same problems: that other bug is all about 'tap-to-click'. Ben is saying his touchpad simply does not work.
Ben can you do:
 $ journalctl -b --no-hostname
and look for (/) mouse lines, to see whether there is a clue there. On a laptop, I see 1 mousedev line, and 3 psmouse lines. No mention of touchpad.
On that machine I see no mention of [m]ouse in either lspci -v or lsusb -v.

Do you have a real mouse to plug in/Bluetooth to see whether that works?

Thanks for the two journals. Have I got this right? ...

Real mouse works (7 lines):

14:10:06 localhost systemd[1]: Started Console Mouse manager.

Presume 'keypad' does not work, 'mouse' lines (5):
15:07:36 localhost kernel: mousedev: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice
15:07:36 localhost kernel: input: ASUSTek COMPUTER INC. ASUS Base Station(T100) Mouse as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3/1-3:1.2/0003:0B05:17E0.0004/input/input10

15:07:43 localhost service_harddrake[724]: MOUSE took: 0:00:00

So it appears that the 'Console Mouse manager' is not getting started for the bad case.

Assigning to kernel/drivers in the hope they can deduce something.

Comment 12 Ben McMonagle 2023-01-10 08:50:50 CET
I have just installed kernel-5.10.78-desktop-1.mga8

and rebooted into it.

touchpad and buttons work as expected
Comment 13 Ben McMonagle 2023-01-12 09:20:21 CET
this kernel: 6.0.7-desktop-1.mga9 (from alpha1 .iso) allows the touchpad and buttons to work correctly.

it would appear that a change has occurred between this one and 6.1.1-desktop-4.mga9
Comment 14 Ben McMonagle 2023-02-07 06:30:37 CET
ok for:

will check the x86_64 CI as well.

if ok, will close as fixed
