Description of problem:
Mageia 9 alpha 1 download traditional installer, burn to DVD-RW.
Used external DVD-drive connected to a new ASUSvivoBook.

In other errors e0:17 is different like e1:00 or e0:1d
After a few seconds it do start to load the program into memory so I did get Mageia 9 installed .

Further examination shows that my trusted SONY external USB DVD-drive is no longer reliable.
So please ignore or maybe DELETE this bug.

Summary: Mageia 9 alpha 1 initial boot up of installer unable to read modalias from /sys/bus/pci => PLEASE DELETE Mageia 9 alpha 1 initial boot up of installer unable to read modalias from /sys/bus/pci

As it is not possible to delete bugs, we will close this one as INVALID.

Please reopen or create a new bug if you get hit again by the same problem with another USB-drive.

Resolution: (none) => INVALID

I have repaired the externat DVD drive and also tested using a rather new slim portable DVD drive.
In both cases installing on the mentioned ASUSvivoBook it shows the mentioned errors. But otherwise continues and completes the installation.

When the Mageia is running there is now problems. So it is only when booting.

BTW installing Mageia 8 also gives the errors.

Doing the same on an old Lenovo T420 does not give the mentioned errors.
Less than 2 years ago I got a new Lenovo THinkpad E14 G2 . M8 was installed also without the mentioned errors IIRC .

So the error is due to some hardware / driver issue.

As stawed it continues installing. The only annoying thing is that the errors is shown qhile the program is loaded into memory so you are looking at the error messages for some time (I had time to take photos)

Resolution: INVALID => (none)
Status: RESOLVED => UNCONFIRMED
Summary: PLEASE DELETE Mageia 9 alpha 1 initial boot up of installer unable to read modalias from /sys/bus/pci => Mageia 9 alpha 1 initial boot up of installer unable to read modalias from /sys/bus/pci
Ever confirmed: 1 => 0

Thank you for your report and tests on other hardware.

It should still be possible to look at the installation log. To identify it, do *as root*:
 find /root/drakx -name 'report*'
In my own case it shows:
 /root/drakx/report.bug.xz
but you may not have the .xz . If this file exists .xz , please attach that directly to this bug. If the filename ends simply .bug please compress it first (still as root):
 xz /root/drakx/report.bug
which will produce the compressed equivalent .xz , and attach that to this bug.

Maybe I need to do a fresh install of M9 . Please inform.
Regards.

Mageia 9 alpha 1 download traditional installer is old now, but the more recent Beta1 is not very happy. If your system works, keep using it until a new Beta release is announced. The error message is harmless, you said.
If you use the Classic installer again, remember you can simply *update* your existing M9 installation, to save re-specifying everything.

You mentioned "you are looking at the error messages for some time (I had time to take photos)". If you have one - make it small - please attach that also, to make the point!

Asigning to Mageiatools for the Installer.

I have only installed M9 for helping in testing. For normal use I have M8 installed (Win10 was/is preinstalled!)

My concern is if a newcomer to Mageia tries Mageia and sees these messages or someone testing for a magezine then one may loose some confidence in Mageia.
