Description of problem: In cauldron the plymouth animation page during boot has a background that is compressed in the x plane so that the small logo cauldron is tall and narrow. The large cauldron with the animated bubbles has the correct shape. It seems that the background image which should be derived from /usr/share/mga/backgrounds/default.png is either not using it or is compressing it. /usr/share/mga/backgrounds/default.png is a symlink to the nearest correct aspect ratio background image in the same directory and is being correctly used for grub2 and sddm. Both plymouth and the plasma5 desktop backgrounds are faulty in current cauldron in different ways. see https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31320 for the plasma bug. Which also has some details about the system. Note this is not a VM but a real hardware net install. Thank you for the report & the diagnosis. Have linked the other bug you mention. Believing the implication that this is a 'plymouth' issue, assigning it appropriately to basesystem. If this is wrong, please change it.

It seems that on initial system installation the initrd is being built BEFORE mga-bg-res is run and has set a default screen resolution. (Not yet checked the logs). Re-creating the initrd fixes the plymouth problem, but this would not normally happen until the first kernel update after installation. I do not recall this issue in previous releases.
@Martin, Do you know if something changed in the installer such that dracut gets run before mga-bg-res? I have searched the logs in /root/drakx but can't see when the initrd gets built nor when mga-bg-res is run. We seem to have the wrong resolution in the initrd.img such that the plymouth display is distorted, until dracut is run again.

@Barry, no this isn't new. Bug 28336 will jog your memory :-)
Hi Martin, Thanks for that! I will try not to report this again for Mageia 10! It's no fun getting old :( Cheers and Happy New Year for weekend!
