Description Mark Dawson Butterworth 2022-12-08 18:39:47 CET
Description of problem:

Can't save anything from Umbrello

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Umbrello on a machine which doesn't have KDE already installed (in my case XFCE)
2. Run it
3. Get an error on start "There was a problem saving: <temporary file name>"
4. Try and save anything
5. Get same error

I thought that the cause may be related to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=801308 as kinit is not in the dependencies but installing it doesn't seem to help.

Underlying issue seems to be related to "kf.kio.core: couldn't create slave: "klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'file'.\n"

So I think the cause is that kio is missing from the dependency list. I haven't verified whether it still needs kinit as well.

I wasn't clear in my description but with both kinit and kio installed the problem goes away
Comment 2 David GEIGER 2022-12-08 19:29:34 CET
Hi,

Fixed in Cauldron adding kio and kinit as required dependencies.

Thank you Mark for the report & the diagnosis; and David for the rapid fix.
@David
Is this good for Mageia 8 QA?
