Thank you for this report. Some simple questions:
1. Are we talking Konsole?
2. Which language were you using at the time?
3. Does the error happen if you are in the 'other' language?
4. After the terminal error messages, does it carry on OK?
5. Do you see this on a virtual console (Ctl/Alt/Fn)?

Are you able to try with another terminal application? qterminal should be easy to add; or lxterminal. I doubt whether that will change anything, but it is quick to try.

Do you yet know whether other applications suffer in any way?

Answers:
1) yes Konsole or Yakuake
2) English
3) didn't try
4) Yes - this only happens everytime I open a new teminal / console
5) Not sure - but I already shut my machine down for the evening - will report back tomorrow ;-)

Will try other terminal apps as well . . .

Cheers,
Robert

Different terminals opened

Konsole and Console work - gnome-terminal fails to start - and a system console (alt-F2) - once I log in - works fine without any error - so most likely something with stock Plasma . . . .

Probable; but note that gnome-terminal reported "Locale not supported by C library".
I do not think I see any Konsole errors under Plasma. Just trying that under LxQt shows a big cursor blob way to the right, but input appears where you would expect. NOT to bug (yet).
I happen to have two languages installed, but only chose one (not English) at installation; English seems to be there (necessarily) without asking for it.

Assigning this to Plasma folk.
