Description Derek Jennings 2011-10-20 01:32:55 CEST
I noticed this issue when trying to work out why I could not build a module with dkms.

kernel-2.6.38.8-6.1.mga1 was produced to fix bug 2975

When booting the kernel vmlinuz is :-

vmlinuz -> vmlinuz-2.6.38.8-desktop-6.1.mga

However the kernel identifies itself as
Linux version 2.6.38.8-desktop-6.mga (without the '.1')

This causes problems with dkms if the only kernel-devel package installed is kernel-devel-latest. dkms will try to build modules for 2.6.38.8-desktop-6.mga and will not have the correct header files.
