Description of problem: When I boot up and try to log in via sddm, the mouse cursor is very small and the screen by default is very dim. This makes it impossible to log in bright light. It seems impossible to have the default brightness be high, or to change the size of the pointer. Fn F7 does not work in sddm (that is the screen brightness key which does work once I have logged in) and I have not figured out how to change the size of the mouse pointer in sddm (I have a large pointer in plasma, but again that only works once I have logged on. Part of the problem is that I have a Dell xps13 the a 2000x1000 screen, so the pointer (about 10 pixels in size) is almost invisible. Note that scren tapping also does not work in sddm. I have to press the buttons. Version-Release nun mber of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Edit your /etc/environment and add XCURSOR_SIZE=64
Regarding the brightness: This won't be fixed as sddm devs think this is a minor annoyance which only affects laptop users... https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/1189

This should be fixed in new sddm 0.20.0 released about 3 weeks: Dylan Lees (1): Set XCURSOR_SIZE in XorgDisplayServer::start https://github.com/sddm/sddm/releases/tag/v0.20.0
