As well as putting in the context menu "open a new Open Office or Draw, impress or Calc document" in both Desktop and Dolphin. In the other distributions based on Kde (Open Suse, Fedora or Kubuntu) the context menu does appear, however in Mageia 8 I have not seen this feature yet.

Thanks.
Try creating a new user. Logout/in as the new user and see if the problem is there for that user.

I'm not clear from comment 4. Do the new users have the context menu entries to open existing libreoffice files in libreoffice or not?
Ah. Sorry. Reading all of the above again. This is about right clicking on empty space in dolphin, and then moving the mouse pointer over "Create New". It does not include the various libreoffice file types, just text and html. It's not about opening existing files. Assigning to the registered maintainer of libreoffice.

For reference, the templates are explained in e.g. https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=119342 or https://frommindtotype.wordpress.com/2020/04/23/kde-plasma-add-a-template-to-the-create-new-menu/ Seems those templates should be put in the systemwide XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR
Well, I'm already tired of patches and botches: whether they do it right or not: it can't be that it works in the other distros and NO in Mageia!
