New installation of Mageia 8 based on the Mageia 8 GNOME Live DVD. After repartitioning and format of the /sda1 partition because the Windows 10 EFI partition enhanced NTFS has not been accepted by Mageia 8, I finally could install Mageia 8 But the now Grub2 seems not to be able to write itself on the renamed partition /dev/sda5 --------------------------------- Das Programm "draklive-install" ist mit folgender Fehlermeldung abgestürzt: grub2-install failed: x86_64-efi wird für Ihre Plattform installiert. Thank you for the report. The informations regarding the formatting process is unclear. You mention NTFS (not possible to install any linux on it). Did you use drakdisk for formatting? Which options did you chose? https://doc.mageia.org/draklive/8/en/content/diskPartitioning.html Your fstab doesn't contain any partitions.
Did you try to check "Install in /EFI/BOOT." for buggy BIOS? https://doc.mageia.org/draklive/8/en/content/setupBootloader.html#d4e778
I had to reformat the /dev/sda1 from the NTFS-enhanced Filesystem to FAT-32, because Mageia demanded a FAT-32 to be mounted at /boot/efi or similar. This had the second drawback that it has been renamed to /dev/sda5 by the partition tool when I had to change the disk format type. I do not know why /etc/fstab does not have the partitions on the Live DVD system. But probably they are not mounted on the Live system. The partions are only mounted when I reboot from the harddrive and not from the Live DVD. I have used gparted to generate the partitions. Later I have used drakdisk to format the partitions.
>> Did you try to check "Install in /EFI/BOOT." for buggy BIOS? I do not get this in the first dialog in the Mageia Installation. Bootloader: GRUB with graphical menu Boot Device: EFI system partition But in the second dialog after the download of the boot packages I get: o ... test alien/other OS o ... install in EFI/boot I did only check the first. Now I try to check both of them. ==> success. No immediate error message or crash now! I will report a new bug in the case the boot process will still make troubles.

So no bug on Mageia side...only a buggy BIOS of your mainboard which can worked around by ticking the right box in the installer. Setting to FIXED.
