specfile that can be uses as a basis

I suffered from too many coasters and other random problem with the wodim based alternatives, so I've always compiled Jörg Schillings original version of cdrtools that never caused me any headache.

Attached is a spec file that can be used to build it.

Since

cdrecord, cdda2wav and readcd

will be installed suid root, and executing is restricted to root and the cdwriter group, you have to

usermod -a -G cdwriter <your user>

to give it the additional privileges/add it to the group to run them as regular user.

it installs to /opt/schily to not conflict with any of the alternative tools.

Setting version to cauldron, because package requests will usually be done for cauldron first and then be available in the next stable release after that

Over my dead body.

It's impossible to work with the author. He even trolled on our mailing lists in the past.
He deliberatly fscked the license.
We deliberatly choose to switch to the alternative with Debian and the other distros.

BTW "CDDL (in parts LGPL and GPL" doesn't mean anything regarding juridics.
Despite bogus claims by the author, the FSF states it's incompatible with GPL
(http://cdrecord.berlios.de/private/linux-dist.html#violations vs http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#CDDL)

That was in 2011. Did anything change? Is the license still unusable and has he still behaved like a troll, anywhere, in the past 5 years?

See https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/dev/2016-07/msg00551.html

The license is still unusable.
