Description Pierre Fortin 2022-04-08 15:44:32 CEST
Description of problem: low-priority enhancement / memory jogger.

Running with 10 desktops, one konsole each.
'Restore previous saved session' is selected.
On restore, firefox restores windows on original desktops; but konsole restores all its windows on desktop 1, so I have to do Move to Desktop N for each one. At least, they remember N tabs and config (1, 2x2)

Actually, this would be nice for other apps too; however:
emacs: IIRC, emacs remembers desktop; but not file being edited
okular: remembers desktop; but not viewed file
So these need to be excluded from restore...

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
(Is the recall of desktop, work file, etc handled by the apps or the desktop?)

How reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. setup desired multi-desktop with knnsole on each
2. logout or kill desktop
3. login (every konsole is on desktop 1)

I suspect this issue is very application dependant, and the request unrealistic.

Assuming you are using Plasma: just to play with this, perhaps you (or anyone else) can tell me exactly how you get it to restore applications (which with another of your bugs I could not achieve).

Having got Plasma to restore interrupted applications left running on logout/login, I found (bug 30233) like yourself that exactly what happens depends on the application. The main thing is that they do get restored - or what they were doing can be restored - one way or another.

This is not worth a bug. It is all down to how things happen in unusual circumstances. If you think it really matters, this is an upstream matter for Konsole. Try the forum; or a bug there.

Please excuse the 'invalid' closure; it just means here not worth a bug.
