Description Kristoffer Grundström 2022-02-17 12:35:51 CET
Description of problem: My travel router (using OpenWRT 21.02.1) which is a TP-Link TL-WR902AC v3) seems to crash due to heavy load and as normal behavior I see the notification that the connection is down and the WiFi icon between the speaker and connection manager changes to the globe (drakconnect), but does NOT change back to iwlwifi applet unless I log out of the desktop environment or reboot the computer.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.24.2-1

How reproducible: Every now and then.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Purchase the TP-Link TL-WR902AC v3
2. Install OpenWRT 21.02.1 on the router.
3. Connect the router to a WiFi connection.
4. Increase the load of the traffic til the router disconnects and watch the iwlwifi icon get changed to drakconnect, reboot the router and watch the notification appear telling you that you are once again connected, but afterwards there's no change of the icon in the panel.

Picture proof

Seeing the "disconnected" globe while pinging shows that I can both receive AND send packets without any issue makes it confusing for the naked eye.

Thank you for the report.

It would help pinpoint the problem (drakconnect or Mate?) if you could reproduce it, or not, with a different desktop. Are you able to?
Not having WiFi myself, I cannot 'see' these icons. Can you please attach small screenshots of the panel Systray to illustrate them? Just 'selected area', not the entire screen.

[Re the already attached screenshot "Picture proof", since it was just terminal output, it could have more simply been copied/pasted directly as a comment].
