From what I read, this will be the last Qt5 LTS KDE Plasma version before 6.0 for Qt6. I guess we should use this for Mageia 9 at least. Should we update Mageia 8?

We currently have 5.20.4 in Mageia 8. How long is it supported for?

Therefore, it is better to release on 9.

(In reply to Dave Hodgins from comment #2) > We currently have 5.20.4 in Mageia 8. How long is it supported for? most likely there is no support for this version anymore.
as soon as python 3.10 release is done in cauldron i will start to update plasma 5.24 on cauldron. When done, we can start to talk about this and mageia 8
Supposedly, Mageia 8 is no longer supported, since it's not an LTS, and as far as I've seen, non-LTS versions are supported until the next one is released. So Mageia 8 should at least upgrade to Plasma 5.23 or 5.24 to be "supported" (although 5.23 will be unsupported by 5.24, which is LTS at the same time). I don't know if ther is issues of Plasma 5.23 in Cauldron, although I see it very stable, and I haven't have problems in Vbox of Mageia 9 X86_64. Perhaps, We should update to 5.23 in Mageia 8... Greetings!!

on version 5.24, a bug was noticed with Nvidia graphics cards (470/510). the essence of the bug: screen flickering. Information for qa.
For Mageia8, Thomas Backlund replied on qa-list that we support 5.20 by backporting security fixes.

Where is the link to the KDE bug report?
(In reply to sturmvogel from comment #10) > Where is the link to the KDE bug report? I'm trying to persuade him to create a bug, but he's in no way, and I can't force him.
What kind of flicker? Always, just at login, or other cases? On mga8, Plasma, I have flickering on login on my Dell Precision M6300 (Nvidia GPU). It seem that the tone-in effect dont work as it should. It also have some windows partly nonrenredered (after resuming i think) until I move them. But after that during use no problem. That is not the first system i have seen it on, but as KDE dont like bug on "old" releases, and I am used to it, I have not cared...

How to explain it to you in a simpler way. The man showed a video where the flickering on the tap is clearly visible, maybe from half a second to a second. I mean, the screen turns black.
perhaps this is an isolated case, because others have not been noticed.
