Description Barry Jackson 2022-01-22 14:12:50 CET
Description of problem:
Previous kernel is correct - plymouth background matches grub2 background.
With this latest kernel the grub2 background is still correct, but plymouth is stretched horizontally.
Tested on a laptop with 1366x768 screen.

/usr/share/mga/backgrounds/default.png is correct,
also /usr/share/plymouth/themes/Mageia-Default/background.png matches it.

I can only assume that something is switching the display resolution during boot when plymouth starts with this kernel.
Comment 2 Barry Jackson 2022-01-22 14:51:00 CET
On another system using a 1280x1024 monitor there is no problem so maybe plymouth is defaulting to 1280x1024 on the laptop for some reason with kernel-5.15.16-desktop-1.mga8.

Does 5.15.16-1.1.mga8 from here work better:

Yes that fixed it :)

Thank you Barry for the report.
And tmb for a rapid fix.

Can we close this resolved/fixed?
Or does it need an andvisory & go via QA?

I will queue the fix in svn for next kernel update, but I wont push a full kernel update for something that is just a cosmetic issue
Comment 7 Lewis Smith 2022-01-22 22:04:02 CET
Agree. Leaving the bug open meanwhile in case somebody else hits the same thing, so they can see it easily.
