Hi;

Testing on Asus ROG with GeForce GTX 960M I cannot get the DE. Whatever option I change I only have a black screen.

I reverted to the Intel card.

PROCEDURE

Not related to the specific update, but the procedure have same problems as often:
1) Updated nvidia-current
2) realised I wanted BOINC to finish jobs before reboot, and I too continued working occasionally, so next day:
3) after a few times of screen idle, blanking, and waking, i got a message in white text on black screen i have to switch terminal, log in as root, issue "loginctl unlock-session c2" and then switch back. Hardly user friendly!
4) when i wanted to reboot, Plasma reboot button/menu is not functional.

We have the popup asking user to reboot for new kernel, gcc etc. Rebooting shortly after updating nvidia is apparently even important for normal users. I did not notice popup, but maybe i have just seen that popup too many times...?

-----

THE UPDATE

OK for the drivers
Test on mga8, 64 bit, Plasma, 4k screen, Intel i7
Smooth install.
Various programs, video site, VirtualBox MSW7 guest widow resizing and video site etc.

I see BOINC detect GPU OK, but no suitable jobs to run.

Thanks for the command tips guys :)

Comment 6 Morgan Leijström 2021-12-23 16:06:17 CET
(In reply to Muhammad Tailounie from comment #4)

So you have two GPU.

Have you had nvidia GPU working with Mageia before? Which version? Or other distro?

What method do you use to decide which to run?

Do you use
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia-prime_for_Optimus
Comment 7 Muhammad Tailounie 2021-12-23 22:40:26 CET
Yes.

Some time ago using bumblebee, I do not remember the version.

I used mageia-prime today, but there is something strange. After reverting to Intel I cannot log in using SDDM. So I had to also switch to XDM. Lucky to have it already in Mageia :)

No I need to make SDDM work again.
