$ dkms status showing OK

BOINC detects CUDA and OpenCL (but no work to test)

Hardware: My workstation "svarten": Mainboard: Sabertooth P67, CPU: i7-3770, RAM 16G, GM107 [GeForce GTX 750] using nvidia-current; GeForce 635 series and later, 4k display. Disk&Filesystem: SSD with /boot/EFI and ext4 /boot, LUKS{LVM {swap, ext4 /home & / } and a spinner at /mnt/spinner

Tested: Plasma desktop; using Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Ktorrent, Nextcloud client, printing, Firefox ESR, flatpak Firefox, flatpak Spotify, java program FriBOK, ...
Stress test: While working with other things BOINC use all cores to 100%, videos do not stutter in Chromium, nor Firefox ESR but do in flatpak version.
VirtualBox: Launched my usual MSW7pro-64, tests OK: bidirectional clipboard, shared folders write protected and not, USB2 memory stick read&write (using upstream extension pack), drag file from Dolphin to Windows Explorer, Windows update, video playing in Firefox and Chrome while CPU is heavily loaded.

Dell Dimension e520, Core2Quad, 4GB RAM, AMD HD 8570 graphics (amdgpu driver), MGA8-64 Plasma system using the desktop kernel, and a MGA8-32 Plasma system, also using the desktop kernel. I had updated each install with mesa/libdrm packages from Bug 29713 before testing this kernel.

No installation issues with either kernel. Ran glmark2 before and after the kernel updates, with no appreciable difference in the scores. No regressions noted on either system.

Had to remove 14 stale kernels on this machine.
Installed desktop and server kernels with the other packages excluding kernel source and virtualbox.
Kernel: 5.15.6-server-1.mga8 x86_64
6-Core Intel Core i7-10710U
Intel Comet Lake UHD Graphics driver: i915

Leaving this to run.
Comment 13 Thomas Backlund 2021-12-04 18:31:12 CET
an issue with some usb devices not showing up at all on some Intel xhci hosts has been identified, so I'm adding a single fix for that to this update...

so new kernels are coming...

No regressions noticed (one desktop, one rpi4b, on laptop) though I still have
bug 29711 preventing firefox and gkrellm from shown the gui under plasma on the
rpi 4b.

Intel i5-2500, 16GB RAM, Intel graphics, 64-bit Plasma system. This desktop has an Intel DQ67SW motherboard with two usb 3.0 ports. However, the controller chip is NEC rather than Intel, so I don't know how valid checks of the fix to xhci would be. It is normally used with a wired Internet connection, but is also set up to use an rtl8192eu usb dongle to connect, if desired.

The following 8 packages are going to be installed:

- cpupower-5.15.6-2.mga8.x86_64
- kernel-server-5.15.6-2.mga8-1-1.mga8.x86_64
- kernel-server-devel-5.15.6-2.mga8-1-1.mga8.x86_64
- kernel-server-devel-latest-5.15.6-2.mga8.x86_64
- kernel-server-latest-5.15.6-2.mga8.x86_64
- kernel-userspace-headers-5.15.6-2.mga8.x86_64
- virtualbox-kernel-5.15.6-server-2.mga8-6.1.30-1.2.mga8.x86_64
- virtualbox-kernel-server-latest-6.1.30-1.2.mga8.x86_64

No installation issues. The rtl8192eu driver module was built successfully, and I am using it now to write this report. Firefox works, as does dolphin, vlc, and kwrite. There is a 4-port usb 3.1 hub connected to one of the motherboard's usb 3.0 ports. In turn, and together, I connected a usb 3.0 external hard drive, and two usb 2.0 devices, a card reader and a flash drive, to the hub. All were recognized by the device notifier, and were accessible by dolphin. I could copy files from one to the other successfully.

In addition, VirtualBox is installed on this system, and there is a MGA8-64 Plasma guest with usb 3,0 activated. I believe that Vbox simulates an Intel usb 3.0 controller chip unless specifically told otherwise, but I could be wrong about that. VirtualBox runs the guest before updating it with no regressions.

I updated the guest's kernel, with no installation issues there, either. After the reboot, the guest was also able to access the devices connected to the hub, singly or all at the same time. Vlc played a video on one of the devices.

Looks OK on this hardware, and in VirtualBox.

Installed the latest edition, all packages except virtualbox.
Booted 5.15.6-desktop-2.mga8

10-Core Intel Core i9-7900X
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Mate desktop behaving normally. LAN services OK. Video and sound OK over bluetooth (which worked immediately without configuration).

OK 64 bit updated system from comment #4 to -2 versions

Did a subset of tests incl USB3, virtualbox with USB2. And keep using this.

BTW I now received BONC GPU workunits, and see they are running nicely with Nvidia CUDA/OpenCL.

Dell Inspiron 5100, 32-bit P4, Radeon RV200 graphics, 32-bit Xfce system using the desktop kernel. This system had already received the mesa/libdrm updates from Bug 29713.

No installation issues, and after reboot, no regressions noted.

I went back to the guest and checked the "hardware" with MCC, which reported that indeed an Intel usb 3.0 controller chip was being simulated.
