I think the trash is empty.

The symbol does not change.

In my kde-installation there is no problem.

Yes, my trash is empty .. In fact, the icon is the same as the trash is empty or full. The icon on the desktop is a full trash, whatever its state. I was misled. Sorry for the inconvenience ....
Comment 4 Ahmad Samir 2011-04-21 06:32:08 CEST
If this issue is till not fixed, please try this as user:
cp -v /usr/share/applications/kde4/trash.desktop ~/Desktop/

then give the trash can another shot, see if the icon changes when you empty the trash.
Comment 5 Jean Michel Varvou 2011-04-30 07:54:02 CEST
I have installed the beta 2. To reproduce the problem :

- Delete a file => we get the full Trash Icon
- Empty the trash => We get the empty Trash Icon
- Delete a second file => we get the full Trash Icon
- Empty the trash => No change. The icon is the full Trash Icon

So after two tests, the problem is reproduced. I have tried your command, but there is no change. To get the empty trash, I must to disconnect to my kde session and then log in again.
Comment 6 Ahmad Samir 2011-04-30 18:15:21 CEST
If it worked once then failed the second time then it's a bug.

(A totally different issue than what the command in comment#4 would fix).

@ahmad can you reproduce ?
I tried here the sequence :
1)-> delete a file (to get a full trash icon)
2)-> empty trash (& i get the empty trash icon as expected)

i reproduce it 5 times without success :/ aka i'm getting the empty trash icon when the trash is empty.

@Jean Michel Varvou could you reproduce with the xguest user ?
Comment 8 Jean Michel Varvou 2011-05-07 09:46:28 CEST
Same problem with xguest user. I reproduce the problem easily.

Besides if I use the kde desktop mode, and I create a plasmoïde view folder, and with this configure this plasmoide to view my folder "Desktop", my trash has the same problem.

If I create a new plasmoide "Trash" in desktyop mode, there is no problem. The plasmoïde work good.

If I keep my trash in the folder View and a second trash créated with a plasmoïde, I have not the same behaviour.

1) If empty my trash with the plasmoïde, no problem
2) If empty my trash with the trash in the folder view, the icon of the plasmoïde change but not this in the folder view.

I try to do a video to explain the problem.

Here's a video explaining the problem : http://blip.tv/file/5115519?filename=JeanMichelVARVOU-BugKDEDeLaCorbeilleFolle600.ogv
Comment 10 John Balcaen 2011-05-07 12:28:16 CEST
Ok now i understand.
Could you report upstream & attach your ogv ?
Comment 11 Jean Michel Varvou 2011-05-08 07:13:30 CEST
Sorry, the video is too big. There is a limit fixed to 6 Mbytes to upload files on bugzilla.
Comment 12 John Balcaen 2011-05-08 14:13:31 CEST
Could you attach the url then ?

Comment 15 John Balcaen 2011-06-16 11:36:38 CEST
did you report it upstream finally ?
Comment 16 John Balcaen 2011-07-09 19:28:42 CEST
Ping again.
Comment 17 John Balcaen 2011-09-21 12:32:59 CEST
i did found a similar bug upstream.
I'll close it for now at least as OLD since the original reporter does not answer anymore & we'll get the fix from upstream (if we ever get one since it's quite an old bug).
