Description Philippe Didier 2021-09-27 12:42:53 CEST
Hi
With the previous Firefox ESR (78.13.0-1) it was possible to display any FTP site (for instance : ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/ )

Since Firefox has been updated to 91.1.0-1 when I enter this ftp address I'm asked to chose which app to open this link !!!
Firefox is proposed but nothing happens when I click on the "Open the link" button !
Blank page

If I chose an other app (konqueror for instance) this app is launched and opens and displays the content of the site (I can navigate to
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/distrib/8/x86_64/media/core/updates
and see that firefox 91.1.0-1 is in the Mageia8 updates !

ALL major browsers discontinued FTP support! This is the new standard!

Thanks
I didn't know that...

I think that should have deserved a warning with the update (README.91.1.0-1.update.urpmi)

I will have to change some bookmarks from ftp to https now that I know why they don't work

I think I may close this bug report !

Resolution: (none) => WONTFIX
Status: NEW => RESOLVED
