Description Martin Karasek 2021-09-08 17:02:03 CEST
Description of problem: I cant use many streaming services in Kodi 19 under Mageia cause there is no file kodi-inputstream-adaptive installed. When I try to install it within Kodi I get an error warning that the newest version doesnt fit to the version of Kodi (19.0.0.). Even older versions doesnt fit. I guess there is a special Mageia-Version needed. I had a similar problem with kodi-pvr-iptvsimple which you solved in the past by adding a mageia version of this file. Thanks in advance for your help!

Any news for my problem? I would like to use kodi19 completely. Thank you!

Still valid as of Kodi 19.4, our Bug 30123. The kodi-inputstream-adaptive is now listed as "unavailable" from the Kodi repository. Also, when you look, from within Kodi, at the dependencies for the pvr-iptvsimple add-on, you see the following, all of which are listed as "unavailable":

inputstream.adaptive
inputstream.ffmpegdirect
inputstream.rtmp

If our pvr-iptvsimple is installed and configured, some of the resulting streams will play, but many others will not, saying they need one of the above inputstream add-ons.

This has been an ongoing problem for me. As well as your complaints, we are told to look on the Web for the latest customised RPM, which won't install. It seems to be fixed in the latest version of LibreELEC, using Nexus, which has only a few repositories installed. Generally, Kodi seems to have quite a few upgrade mistakes, and is unsaleable. The source code uses Ubuntu, and no other distro is supported. When Python3 was introduced, very few add-ons worked; it was up to the maintainers to upgrade them later; ordinary users were told to wait. "Crackle" still has the Python2 version for download. I am filing a bug report about XML add-on files being in an old format, and causing Kodi to "hang."

Since writing comment 4, the pvr-iptvsimple add-on was updated in Mageia 8, and inputstream-adaptive was no longer needed to use it. (Bug 29837)

Since that time, Mageia 9 was released, Mageia 8 passed into EOL, and the current Kodi is version 20. It, too functions with pvr-iptvsimple not needing a new inputstream-adaptive.

Since Mageia 8 is now EOL, any new or ongoing problems with Kodi should be pursued in bugs filed against Mageia 9 and/or Cauldron.

Closing this bug as OLD.
