Description of problem: I see on https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-desktop/releases/ that MATE is updated to 1.26.0 and in Cauldron we only have 1.24.1. I therefor wish to have this desktop environment updated to see if my bug #23929 is resolved.

Mate is looked after by various people, so having to assign this globally. CC'ing kekepower who got involved in the earlier bug.
This request is reasonable in a Cauldron context: the update will have to happen eventually. I will be surprised if it fixes this old problem:

Bug 23929 is all about having ~/Desktop created in the native language (if not English). It in turn refers to bug 14358. The problem can be crudely worked around by (I think) creating a new directory Desktop in the local language, copying the contents of Desktop to it, and deleting Desktop.
