Description Rod Goslin 2021-07-08 10:48:45 CEST
Description of problem:lack of functionality and permanent loading of the sidebar on activatiom of Konqueror

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:At all times

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on the Konqueror icon
2.Attempt to add the currently displayed directory to the bookmark listing in the sidebar
3.

I was pleased to note, with Mga8 the return of the sidebar to Lonqueror. I'm not sure, this being a KDE element that it has relevance as a bug report, but here goes.
I particularly liked the sidebar in Konqueror in Mga5, since it utilises one of the better aspects of modern monitors. That is the much greater width relative to the height of the screen. In this, my main use of the sidebar was for the housing of an extensive list of bookmarks, to selective files and directories. However, with the new sidebar in Konqueror for Mga8, there appears to be no functionality in the bookmark aspect. It is there and openable, but there appears no possible way to place bookmarks within it.
There is also the problem with the permanancy of the sidebar. In 'settings' there is a tick box to establish the sidebar as default. However, when Konqueror is closed, on re-sctivation, the sidebar is not loaded and the tick in the settings box is once more blank.
Another omission, is the loss of the 'Find File' function in 'Tools'. Whilst I am aware that this function can be opened with Ctl f, a file manager which cannot within it's own functions, search for files, directories, etc. is a bit odd

Hi, thanks reporting this.

This is an upstream bug that should be reported to bugs.kde.org on same manner to bugzilla for Mageia.

Thanks, Aurelien. As suggested, I've raised this in the KDE bugs site. We live in Hope.
