Description Chris Denice 2021-06-01 14:31:13 CEST
Description of problem:

With out current version of "audacious", there is only the Qt interface available. This one crashes on the Ladspa plug-in.

1) File -> Settings -> Plug-ins

2) Select LADSPA Host, try clicking on the "gear" to actually select a ladspa filter. A blank window appears preventing any selection

I've tested locally audacious-4.1, the problem is still there. However, audacious-4.1 allows to use the Legacy GTK interface instead of the QT one. And, doing so, selecting the "LEGACY GTK" interface on the menu Settings-> Appearence, allows to open the LADSPA window. But with the version we currently have on mga8, that is impossible.

Bug reported upstream as well:

Thanks for the report, research and the upstream bug. Can you report back here when you learn it is fixed?

We already have 4.1 in Cauldron, which with your work-around:
"allows to use the Legacy GTK interface instead of the QT one. And, doing so, selecting the "LEGACY GTK" interface on the menu Settings-> Appearence, allows to open the LADSPA window"
enables people to get by.

Assigning to DavidG who currently maintains this thing. It seems advantageous to push 4.1 despite the Upstream status.

Please test upcoming audacious-4.2-1.mga8 and audacious-plugins-4.2-1.mga8 in Core/Updates_testing + Tainted/Updates_testing for audacious-plugins.

Could the RPM be updated to audacious 4.3.1? Per https://audacious-media-player.org/news/56-audacious-4-3-released, it has a PipeWire output plugin, and supports GTK3 as well as Qt6. It's a pity to release 4.2.

Audacious is in mga9 release repo.

Please reopen if there is still the same problem.

I meant to say version 4.3.1 is in mga9 core release repo.
