Description Joseph Wang 2011-10-01 16:34:33 CEST
Description of problem:

When I switch my session manager to gdm, the mouse works but my keyboard does not respond. I am using zh_TW locale and systemd

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Consistent

Steps to Reproduce:
1. switch root to zh_TW locale
2. switch desktop DISPLAYMANAGER=gdm
3. reboot
4. mouse works, but keyboard does not
5. reboot with runlevel 3
6. run /etc/rc.d/init.d/dm start
7. everything works

Am including logs. Nothing obviously wrong. Maybe a race condition with systemd?

Summary: keyboard unresponsive when logging into gdm => keyboard unresponsive when logging into gdm - startup race

Comment 3 Joseph Wang 2011-10-01 17:32:52 CEST
This seems to be a startup race condition. When I switched to systemd, gdm behaves differently. I am able to use the keyboard, but gdm goes into classic mode because the dri device is not visible.

It appears that dm is getting run too early in the boot process before the keyboard and the devices have settled down.

And if you disable speedboot ?
Comment 5 Joseph Wang 2011-10-03 17:07:59 CEST
Thanks. It works perfectly when speedboot is off.
