Thank you for the report. Trying with --test, it seemed to work: $ LANG=C sudo urpmi --test bacula-common To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed: (test only, installation will not be actually done) Package Version Release Arch (medium "Core Release (distrib1)") bacula-common 9.6.7 1.mga8 x86_64 lib64bacula7 9.6.7 1.mga8 x86_64 1.4MB of additional disk space will be used. 545KB of packages will be retrieved. Proceed with the installation of the 2 packages? (Y/n) y installing bacula-common-9.6.7-1.mga8.x86_64.rpm lib64bacula7-9.6.7-1.mga8.x86_64.rpm from /var/cache/urpmi/rpms Preparing... ############################################# Installation is possible However, doing it for real did throw the reported error. [Note that the given output has the essential translated into English]. Bacula has no registered maintainer, and is committed by different people; so assigning this globally.

I think this answer shows that reporting bugs is no longer desirable. i wrote the german text translated into english behind them ! This must be enough And most of the time Mageia also has the addition, there is no registered maintainer. I think if this goes on, you have nobody at all anymore.

No, we do have packagers and developers. But, some RPM packages belong to a registred packager and some no but they do have someone who take bugs and look at what's wrong with the current version. If something is fixable, a patched RPM is build and release after a QA time. Note all of us are volunteers and we do all of this on our spare time.

Hello, do you really think that answering like will make someone take time to fix ? be serious, Lewis just told that as there is no "official" maintainer for this package he adds several instead. It is better to add the output completly in english ( LC_ALL=C follow by the commnd ). As we really care about our users i am fixing this package.

Tested in VirtualBox with a 64-bit mga8 Plasma guest. Ran urpmi bacula-common, and it threw the errors described, confirming the error on my virtual hardware. Used the package list at http://madb.mageia.org/tools/listRpmsForQaBug/bugnum/28789/application/0 in qarepo to download the updated packages to a local repo: bacula-bat-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-common-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-console-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-dir-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-fd-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-sd-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm bacula-tray-monitor-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm lib64bacula-devel-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm lib64bacula-sql7-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm lib64bacula7-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm nagios-plugins-bacula-9.6.7-1.1.mga8.x86_64.rpm Ran urpmi bacula-common again, this time with no errors. Switched to drakrpm, and installed the rest of the packages and their dependencies. The devel package drew in the most dependencies, as would be expected. There were no installation issues here, either. As this bug only concerned installation issues, and testing for function involves skills beyond my abilities, I'm going to OK it on the test I have already done. If there is a problem with function, please open a new bug and describe the malfunction. Validating. Still needs an advisory.

Potential advisory: Bacula in mageia 8 wasn't installable because of a scriptlet error. This update fixes this install issue.
very interesting, if i translate the error message to english i got this: "[Note that the given output has the essential translated into English]." and "It is better to add the output completly in english ( LC_ALL=C follow by the commnd )." nothing to do with the bug but the same from other languages is fine. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28638 and this is the right way ! Hope you discuss them internal ! And of course this "It is better to add the output completly in english ( LC_ALL=C follow by the commnd )." does not work on my side. I have to switch the complete locale to english. Another bug. But it's not interesting anymore
