Description of problem: One often finds the same problem listed, sometimes with variations, This creates long lists of messages which results in both the people dealing with the problems and the people who have a problem spending too much time on repititive statements. Of course sometimes this can not be avoided, but in the case of the Plasma freeze it was certainly the case. In connection with bug 28216 [connecting android devices] I wrote the following: "The present situation [viz. connecting android devices] illustrates a weakness of the Bugzilla system, namely that multiple users have the same problem, but not necessarly with the same description (the "PLasma freezes" problem is a prime example of this]. Further, in this case, we had two suggested solutions via applications which are in the Mageia repository. What is needed, in my humble opinion, is a section for general and often reported problems either on top of Bugzilla or on a separate Mageia page. Thus: PROBLEMS?, LOOK HERE FIRST FOR A SOLUTION 1. Android Connections. Many people have had this problem. Download Android File Transfer and KDE transfer in the Mageia Repository. 2. PLASMA problems. These manifest themselves in many ways. This is a KDE problem, not a MAGEIA problem. The KDE people are working on it and hopefully the problem will disappear with MAGEIA 8 .... Just think how much time these two little comments would have saved the fine people trying to make MAGEIA work" Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): ALL How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Hi Roger The wiki errata page partly covers this, per release version Maybe we should discuss how much to list there

Roger's initial comment about different users seeing the same problem, but with different descriptions, is something BugSuad tries to catch: DUPLICATES. Let us discuss this on the bugsquad mailList. If we enhanced the ERRATA page to include common problems which are either not actually bugs, or are still-open bugs; or had a separate page for them, it would need a link from the main Bugzilla page; and I have a feeling that is inviolate. It is also true that we close some bugs where a workaround/user correction is found, and it would be nice if these problems+solutions could be consulted easily. FWIW this link shows the most duplicated bugs (nearly all are closed, the white rows are still open): https://bugs.mageia.org/duplicates.cgi

(In reply to Lewis Smith from comment #2) > FWIW this link shows the most duplicated bugs (nearly all are closed, the > white rows are still open): https://bugs.mageia.org/duplicates.cgi Duplicates are indeed listed there. Common problems are listed in the errata. It's the user's job to first look at existing bugs before reporting a new one. The expert form already does this. The guided form doesn't. Maybe it should, see bug 6340. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 6340 ***
