Amarok 2.9.71 aka Amarok 3.0 Alpha is out...
Hi, thanks for reporting this. I don't think we should introduce alpha quality package in distribution, but, it's not worth the try. As there is no maintainer for this package I added the committers in CC. (Please set the status to 'assigned' if you are working on it)

Shouldn't we update Mageia 8 too?
(In reply to David Walser from comment #3) > Shouldn't we update Mageia 8 too? From https://amarok.kde.org/en/node/890 "Keep in mind that this is a technical preview, so it is possible that some things break. Please make sure you back up your data before heading to this new version!" I don't think that would be suitable for the stable releases.

But 2.9.70 (pre alpha) already IS part of mga8...
Ouch! That should have been rolled back to a stable release prior to version freeze. As it's already in Mageia 8, reopening and setting version to 8.

There is anymore stable version since 2018-03-07 and this release is still on Qt4, so this is why we have now a first pre-alpha ported to Qt5 and Kf5 (2.9.70) on mga8, I myself tested this pre-release without any regression or new bugs found. It works pretty nice so yes why not now using the latest 2.9.71?
Gotcha. Rolling back was not possible, so the alternative to using that version was to remove amarok, which is worse than having a pre alpha version.
Works great as far as I can say now. Thanks@all
