we've got java 11 - but current software needs java 15. e.g. https://mediathekview.de/ sure there is a bundled package - but is it really the idea to have the binary interpreter bundled with each software package?!
i can add it in backport ( but no 15 but 16 )

I love the speed here! When this is confirmed working, i think we shall add to Release notes that java 16 is available in backports. (same goes for Nextcloud BTW)

After installation /etc/alternatives/java was not updated - or is it intended when java11 is already installed to keep the old version here? Uninstall of java11 causes uninstall of eclipse-swt and libreoffice* If java11 is still needed, I'm fully ok with it, but maybe this shows there is a dependancy which can be resolved.
yes need to keep java11 ( needed by lo, etc). i don't remember the command right now but you can modify update-alternatives yourself. update-alternatives --display java can tell you what is configured
