Description christian barranco 2021-02-23 09:51:19 CET
Description of problem:
On a laptop with MGA8 RC and Plasma, I moved to NetworkManager. Connection to a wifi access point takes a long time (about 10 seconds) and there is a warning in journalctl pointing to a miss-configuration :
<warn> [1613857564.1942] ifcfg-rh: load[/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlp3s0]: failure to read file: 802-11-wireless.ssid: property is missing

I am not sure the long connection time is related to this. I can only say the Lan connection is very speedy to be initiated and no error is report with ifcfg-rh :
<info> [1614062773.5162] settings: Loaded settings plugin: ifcfg-rh ("/usr/lib64/NetworkManager/1.26.6/libnm-settings-plugin-ifcfg-rh.so")

Per bug https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26035 , I have removed the entry for ifcfg-rh in NetworkManager.conf
Indeed, the warning disappears from the system log file. However, the wifi connection still takes very long (about 10 seconds).

Here attached are the outputs of journalctl -r -b -u NetworkManager for both Wifi and Lan connection.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
MGA8 RC1 x86_64

How reproducible: always on my laptop. I will try with another one when I can.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Follow wiki https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Switching_to_networkmanager
2.Restart laptop
3.

Thank you for the report and the evidence.

I could not find where /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlp3s0 comes from.
The nearest was initscripts:/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo
So adding that to the SRPMs in case.

Assigning to Olave as recent committer of both SRPMs, CC'ing wally for networkmanager.

Hi
I am not sure anymore anything should be done here.
I use NetworkManager on all my machines, including the ones for family and friends.
It works well.
