I have an Epson Stylus Photo R220 which has been working forever with Mageia. Under current cauldron, the preferred driver (CUPS-gutenprint 5.2.6 simplified) is printing color documents in black and white. Trying the other drivers, CUPS-gutenprint-5.2 produces a totally black page, CUPS-foomatic-gutenprint-js does the same, and CUPS-foomatic-gutenprint-js-simplified works correctly and prints in color. I assumed that this was a model-specific problem, but a recent post in mageia-discuss raises the possibility that others are seeing this with HP printers, so maybe not. Assuming that no --auto-select maintenance could have altered the choice of driver for this printer, there is at least a change of behavior for the recommended CUPS-gutenprint 5.2.6 simplified driver, so I'll start by assigning this to gutenprint. It may also be significant that the non-simplified drivers both don't work at all.
The other post was a red herring (different issue), so this may be model-specific.

To have some more informations, how did you add the printer (s-c-p or directly via CUPS) and does /var/log/cups/errors_log show anything of relevance?
Ping?
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

(In reply to comment #2) > To have some more informations, how did you add the printer (s-c-p or directly > via CUPS) and does /var/log/cups/errors_log show anything of relevance? Sorry, this fell through the cracks. I used s-c-p. I'll re-test to see if this still occurs.
Appears to have been fixed.
