installation of postgis propose 2 ways : postgresql8.4 or postgresql9.0 but postgis-1.5.2 is incompatible with postgresql8.4

Log of postgresql for psql -d chimere -f /usr/share/postgresql/contrib/postgis-1.5/postgis.sql

ERROR:  incompatible library "/usr/lib/postgresql/postgis-1.5.so": version mismatch
DETAIL:  Server is version 8.4, library is version 9.0.

postgis installation

urpmi postgis
Afin de satisfaire les dépendances de « postgresql-plpgsql », un des paquetages suivants est nécessaire :
 1- postgresql9.0-plpgsql-9.0.4-1.mga1.i586 : The PL/PgSQL procedural language for PostgreSQL (à installer)
 2- postgresql8.4-plpgsql-8.4.8-1.mga1.i586 : The PL/PgSQL procedural language for PostgreSQL (à installer)

Will fix the dependency. I have to rebuild the geo stack either way :)

New release of postgis now requires postgres9.0 explicitely.

Status: ASSIGNED => RESOLVED
