Description of problem: On the gnome iso, as IRC client there is Polori and Hexchat Can we remove hexchat ? PS: On the XFCE and Gnome iso there is also empathy for IRC but it needs much more config before using it.

hexchat was added due to bug 15399. Does MageiaWelcome still require an IRC client, and if so, will it use Polari?
didn't know for the above bug, indeed mageiawelcome contains a "chat room" link that goes to the #mageia channel. I tried after removing hexchat from live, and even if polari is correctly set to open the irc:// url it dosn't work well. I will close this as wontfix, sorry for the noise

(In reply to Martin Whitaker from comment #1) > hexchat was added due to bug 15399. Does MageiaWelcome still require an IRC > client, and if so, will it use Polari? Mageiawelcome stil has a link for IRC. For that, it launches the command: xdg-open irc://irc.freenode.net/#mageia or another channel if the link has been translated. Mageiawelcome does't claim any specific client. See also bug 19346 I don't know which mechanism xdg-open uses to select the corresponding application.
