Problem: Looking bad. Version: Second internal ISO, 64 bit, Mageia Classic Installer 8 RC Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install fresh, deselect Plasma, select LXDE (I also deselected Office, Internet clients, .. to speed up this test install to USB), no added media, no updates. 2. Boot to LXDE desktop 3. Suspend 4. Wake it up, see two ugly lines at top of login screen I can log in as normal and everything works. It just does not look good for new users.

Thanks for the report & screenshot/photo. Playing with xscreensaver GUI options, and xscreensaver-command, I confirm what you say. Under LXDE, though I doubt that matters. In certain circumstances, xscreensaver uses the entire screen background - behind the login dialogue - as a sort of terminal output window, with a message or two at the top. Depending on configuration and command parameters, this may appear during the screenlock, or after waking it up (which pops the login dialogue where appropriate). As Morgan says, it is quite inoffensive. Assigning to the SRPM maintainer.

See also bug 28421. That shows (Xfce) the same sort of error message, but not the same one; and a different usage. Both bugs to try under the 'other' desktop.

On M8, xscreensaver-5.45-1.mga8.tainted, SDDM, Xfce, this problem of yellow messages at the top of the screen does not show. The wake-up login screen is 'clean'.
Trying the fix given for bug 28421: $ cat ~/.Xresources xscreensaver.newLoginCommand: dm-tool switch-to-greeter M8, SDDM, LXDE, the problem seems fixed. A 'clean' wake-up screen. I used: $ xscreensaver-command -lock Can you try this, Morgan?
