virtualbox-6.1.16-4.mga7.x86_64 was among the updates that where installed when I ran urpmi --auto-updates yesterday. This morning I found that the virtual machine would no longer start until I reverted USB 3.0 back to USB 1.1 in settings. The VM is windows 10 though that probably doesn't matter as it doesn't get far enough to start booting the guest OS. The virtualbox extension pack, which Mageia is not allowed to distribute due to it's license must be downloaded from https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/6.1.16/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.16.vbox-extpack and then installed. The easiest way to install it is to run virtualbox as root, select File, then select the extensions icon, then the + at the right to select the downloaded file to be installed. Don't start any guest images while running virtualbox as root, just use that to install the extension pack. Closing as invalid since this is not a Mageia bug, just part of the way VirtualBox has chosen to do things.

Thanks. A fresh extension pack did fix the problem though I found it much easier to install as a normal user and give it my password when asked than to do it as root. I couldn't get root to work at all. Wouldn't find the update file no matter where it was put.
