Description of problem: On trying to mount a vhd using guestmount, get the following error every time: libvirt: XML-RPC error : Failed to connect socket to '/run/user/1000/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory libguestfs: error: could not connect to libvirt (URI = qemu:///session): Failed to connect socket to '/run/user/1000/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory [code=38 int1=2] This is because the daemon does not exist. Solution is to install libvirt-utils then start the daemon, so this probably should be included in the dependency list

Thank you for this report. I can find no reference, even recursively, between 'libguestfs' and 'libvirt-utils' (in SRPM libvirt) on Mageia 8/Cauldron (noting that the bug is for M7), so have added M8. Assigning this to Joseph for 'libguestfs'; please re-assign it to pkg-bugs if you prefer. CC'ing NicolasL re M7 'libvirt' not so long ago.

Hi bug reporter and hi assignee and others involved, Please reopen this bug report if it is still valid for Mageia 8 or 9(cauldron), and change "Version:" in the upper left of this report accordingly. This report is being closed as OLD because it was filed against Mageia 7, for which support ended on June 30th 2021. Thanks, Marja
