On Thinkpad T43 i experience problems with hibernation and suspend: 1) Hibernation does not shut off after saving, instead it restarts immediately. 2) At resume from both suspend and hibernation user is asked twice for login. Version-Release: This install was made from Mageia 8b2 xfce i586 Live installer to another USB stick, updated to updates of today. Partitioning: separate /boot, encrypted LVM containing / and swap.

Do swap >= RAM size ? Can you try to add journalctl -b -1 of this failed boot? > 2) At resume from both suspend and hibernation user is asked twice for login. For 2) issue, are you sure this is the same greeter which asks for password? Sometimes in past, I did see a lightdm-greeter screenlocker dialog and after a screensaver-locker one...

RAM 1GB, swap 2,3 GB, on screen i saw the progress it said it saved about 400MB, was looking OK, screen blackened, a few seconds then back to graphics mode background, then login. Logins looking the same, except first login screen have an extra input field overlayed, so it may be using double somethings. See if i can attach log tomorrow.
Updated kernel, xfce screensaver, and more. Now it do shut down after going into hibernation, but when i then click power button it boots without restoring :( Strange it is the same when i select the original kernel. For the double login dialogue: I let desktop time out so screensaver kicked in, and upon returning i see that password dialogue is the same as the second in order when resuming.

Created separate Bug 28182 for the wacky login after resume. (point 2. in comment 0) Lets continue the autorebooting hibernation issue itself only here.
Summary: Mageia 8b2 xfce double login after suspend and hibernate, and hibernate reboots => Mageia 8b2 xfce hibernate reboots
Sorry for leaving you Morgan. Is this still an issue with an up-to-date system?

Thank you for checking :) Have not had time to try more on this myself. Now also my Thinkpad T400 fail resuming, have to investigate that... A same age Dell hibernated and resumed happily on same USB stick. Currently all my USB sticks are in mixed testing of Live tricks ;)

Is this https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28528 ? Seems something missing in dracut to have properly resume function...

Thanks. I should test that when i have time...
Cruel thing to ask: does this problem happen with a different desktop? That is, is it Xfce specific? You can add another lightweight like LXDE or LxQt with little pain.
Will when i have time. Thanks for the testing tip.
Ping? ;)
Reporter, could you please reply to the previous question? If you don't reply within two weeks from now, I will have to close this bug as OLD. Thank you.
