Description of problem: it's impossible to force thunderbird to reply an email with the email destination address as sender address. I can't find any configuration option for this and thunderbird reply always using the default address entered at the first launch of thunderbird. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): all versions How reproducible: just reply an email and see Steps to Reproduce: 1. receive an email for machin@truc.com 2. want to reply to it, thunderbird forcibly uses defaultaddress@somewhere.com instead of the wanted sender address machin@truc.com 3. need to not forget to manually change the sender address to the right one before sending or you have to re-send it after editing. 4. a lot of time and bandwith is wasted in vain. especially when you have a dozen or hundred emails to send/reply every day. 5. GRRR! Solution : Add the option to thunderbird to set the sender address in preferences for mailing-lists to ensure that the right sender address is used when replying or writing to it.
(In reply to Jean-François Bachelet from comment #0) > > Steps to Reproduce: > 1. receive an email for machin@truc.com > 2. want to reply to it, thunderbird forcibly uses > defaultaddress@somewhere.com instead of the wanted sender address > machin@truc.com > For that I understand: Have 2 accounts on Thunderbird: Account 1 and Account B. Your default mail account in Thunderbird is Account A from fournisseur A. 1. Receive an email on xyz@fournisseurB.fr on your mail from fournisseur B. 2. Use inline "Answer" in Thunderbird GUI. This opens a new message window with your xyz@fournisseurB.fr email address. I can't go further. Steps above not reproduced. ==================================================================== Furthermore, Thunderbird is developed from Mozilla, not by us at Mageia. We can't afford to edit all free software to introduce such feature even if they are legitimate. I close this bug, INVALID. If you do have a bug on your Thunderbird client installation, I suggest you to report "upstream" here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=Thunderbird
