Description Omer I.S. 2020-11-19 13:20:59 CET
Please include Noto Sans Hebrew by default for users who use Mageia in Hebrew.
There is no good Hebrew sans-serif font included in Mageia yet, and the fallback fonts provide a bad support for Hebrew Niqud (the Hebrew vowels, like Al'Tashkil).

Can you say what is the 'fallback' (default?) Hebrew font? We offer:
 fonts-type1-hebrew
 google-noto-sans-hebrew-fonts
 google-noto-serif-hebrew-fonts
Do you get it automatically at installation?
Are you saying that the default font could simply be replaced by the Noto one?

The default font is DejaVu Sans (as I know). Including Noto fonts can be very helpful and useful for Hebrew and for other languages. Project Culmus contains nice Hebrew free fonts, including them too will be great. DejaVu Sans can be replaced if it is not used in other languages.

Summary : Hebrew Type1 fonts
Description :
This Package provides free Hebrew Type1 fonts, courtesy of the Culmus project.

If you select Hebrew as a language during installation, fonts-type1-hebrew should get installed by default. It is present on both the classical installer and the Live ISOs.

The Google Noto Hebrew fonts are available in the main repository.

I don't know what more we can do.
Comment 6 Omer I.S. 2020-11-20 01:45:52 CET
Noto Sans Hebrew should be installed by default for a better Niqud support.

But, installing all Noto fonts by default can improve the displaying of non-latin letters.

I'll open new two bugs instead of this because this enhancement is two enhancements.
