Description Adelson Oliveira 2020-11-17 22:24:17 CET
I use to acccess microsoft's teams with MGA7 chromium-browser.
Everything seemed fine up to last friday (november, 13, 2020). This monday I was not able to share screens or seeing presentations in meetings using chromium any longer.
It is difficult to give more details on this but that using google-chrome rpm everything goes fine.

My best bet is that last weekend updates somehow broke mga 7 chromium-browser.
I keep the system always up to date.

I've seen bug 27086, and couldn't use cauldron rpm as a workaround.

I believe the steps to reproduce would be:

1 - having a teams voice call and trying to share one's screen or seeing someone's else shared screen.

Sorry not being able to provide clues for the cause of the problem.

Microphone, camera, and everything else seems to work properly in teams using MGA7 chromium-browser. Only sharing screens is broken.
Comment 2 Lewis Smith 2020-11-18 09:31:09 CET
Thank you for reporting this. I have assumed the latest version,
 chromium-browser-86.0.4240.198-1.mga7
To be able to carry on as before the last update, you can downgrade the package:
 # urpmi --downgrade chromium-browser-81.0.4044.138-1.mga7

> using google-chrome rpm everything goes fine.
Are you able to see (& report) what version that is ?

> Only sharing screens is broken.
Thank you for this precision.

Assigning to NicolasS as the principle maintainer for this pkg.

There's reports on IRC of the built-in PDF reader being broken in the last update as well.

About google-chrome package version, here is google-chrome-stable-87.0.4280.66-1.

Is this 87.0.4280.66 the Google rpm? It is in the pipeline, bug 27630.

Is this a question? The answer is Yes:

$ rpm -qa|grep google-chrome
google-chrome-stable-87.0.4280.66-1

About bug 27646, on PDF format, I had problems to share the window with a PDF presentation on microsoft teams. I also had problems to see someone else's screen but I can't say which format was to be seen. Thus, it could be that the problem here is with PDF formats as well.

Hi,

chromium-browser-stable-87.0.4280.66-2.mga7 seems to solve the issue with displaying PDF files. Can you test if it also solves sharing screens with teams, please?

Best regards,

Nico.
Comment 9 Adelson Oliveira 2020-11-27 02:26:29 CET
Today I've tested sharing screens in teams with version 87 of MGA chromium-browser-stable. Everything was fine, I've shared my screen, applications screens and could see someone else's screen too.

It seems Ok.

Thanks a lot.

Comment 10 Nicolas Salguero 2020-12-05 07:52:10 CET
Hi,

Could you test the new version (-4.mga7) to see if screen sharing with teams is not broken again, please ?

The new version fixes a crash during Jetstream test.

Also note that rootcerts update from bug 27707 can make it difficult to go to certain sites that rely on the removed certificate authorities.

Best regards,

Nico.

OK. But I'm going to be able to test only next monday.

This monday I've tested teams when someone else's screen was shared with no problems...
Couldn't test sharing my screen yet...

There's been some requests for testing mageia's crhomium in teams meetings. I've not seen any problem with sharing screens in teams meetings any longer. But I've seen something difficult to understand or to give a description. When I am using teams in chromium I often open outlook via browser. Then I can see a difference between chromium and google's chrome. The outlook session keeps refreshing quite often in chromium while it is stable in google's chrome. The rate of refreshing is somewhat disturbing. That's all I can say.
Comment 15 Adelson Oliveira 2020-12-15 02:27:41 CET
No annoying refreshments of outlook today. Maybe this is not a bug after all

Thanks everybody
