Description Muhammad Tailounie 2020-10-29 09:27:17 CET
Running Mageia 64-bit with two monitors, I changed the monitors to be identical Asus VP28U , version VP28UQG. After a while of using Mageia, the background and default panel are lost on one monitor, then the background on the other monitor is blacked out too.

I either have to restart Plasma or reboot in order to get the desktop back again.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

Also, Plasma 5.15 under Mageia 7 is outdated and recent fixes upstream have been incorporated to let kwin handle properly multi-monitors stuff.

Thank you for the reply. I am attaching all the files requested, in addition to two other log files. Hope it helps.

I must say that the kernel command line I use includes the option 'noxorgconf'. This might be something to say.

Thank you again

This bug is for Mageia 7.

This seems to be solved in Mageia 8 as with Plasma version 5.20.4.
I'm using a dual displays on same graphic card.
one Display port and one HDMI.

So, between Plasma 5.15 (M7) and Plasma 5.20 (M8) I do think upstream make changes in between. I should try to find in the changelog.

But, Plasma is fixed version in M7.
We can't afford to backport this in M7 as M8 is currently near RC.
