kernel 5.7.17 fixes a new security issue: https://www.linuxkernelcves.com/cves/CVE-2019-19448 Updating to 5.7.19. Hopefully kernel-linus builds this time. Updated kernel packages fix security vulnerabilities: This update is based on the upstream 5.7.19 kernel and fixes at least the following security issue: In the Linux kernel 5.0.21 and 5.3.11, mounting a crafted btrfs filesystem image, performing some operations, and then making a syncfs system call can lead to a use-after-free in try_merge_free_space in fs/btrfs/free-space-cache.c because the pointer to a left data structure can be the same as the pointer to a right data structure (CVE-2019-19448). For other upstream fixes and changes in this update, see the referenced changelogs. Also, the wireguard-tools package has been updated to version 1.0.20200820. wireguard-tools is updated again to 20200827, so I'll fix that.
Updated kernel and kernel-linus packages fix security vulnerabilities: This update is based on the upstream 5.7.19 kernel and fixes at least the following security issue: In the Linux kernel 5.0.21 and 5.3.11, mounting a crafted btrfs filesystem image, performing some operations, and then making a syncfs system call can lead to a use-after-free in try_merge_free_space in fs/btrfs/free-space-cache.c because the pointer to a left data structure can be the same as the pointer to a right data structure (CVE-2019-19448). Please don't forget there's a kernel-linus update here too, doesn't look like anyone's tested it yet.
Sorry about that. Forgot promise to test it. Doing it now.
mga7, x86_64 Intel Core i7-4790, NVIDIA GM204 [GeForce GTX 970] Updated to the linus kernel and saw the kmods built before reboot. $ dkms status nvidia-current, 450.57-3.mga7.nonfree, 5.7.14-desktop-1.mga7, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 450.57-3.mga7.nonfree, 5.7.19-desktop-1.mga7, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 450.57-3.mga7.nonfree, 5.7.19-1.mga7, x86_64: installed On reboot there was an apparent switch to the nouveau driver but the system failed to proceed. Followed the usual steps: virtual console drakx11 -> nvidia driver reboot <failure to boot> console mode drakx11 -> nouveau Logged in under nouveau. System running fine. glmark2 ran using mesa GL, albeit very slowly. After a couple of rounds of trying to get the nvidia driver accepted had to give up. This is exactly what happened with the last kernel linus update. Everything else appears to be working as expected but shall switch back to the desktop kernel.

re comment 17, there was one oddity - radeon-firmware had to be removed. Trying the installation on another machine.

One more CVE has come to light, fixed in 5.7.18. Advisory addendum below: A memory out-of-bounds read flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ext3/ext4 file system, in the way it accesses a directory with broken indexing. This flaw allows a local user to crash the system if the directory exists. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability (CVE-2020-14314). References: https://www.linuxkernelcves.com/cves/CVE-2020-14314 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2020-14314
Trying the installation on another machine. The nvidia driver failed to bite there also. Rebooted to the desktop kernel and had to reinstall the nvidia driver to get it to boot under nvidia. Again, with linus the desktop appeared to function properly.

Dell Inspiron 5100, P4 2.80GHz, 2GB RAM, Radeon RV200 graphics, Atheros wifi, 32-bit Xfce system. Updating kernel-desktop, no regressions noted. Several versions ago, tmb had to do something to our kernels to make them work with the old Radeon graphics, and kernel-linus has not worked on this laptop since, so I didn't bother trying it this time.
