Thank you for the screenshots, which make your point clear. But there are other applications which appear in more than one place, so it is not an error.

I am not currently running under Mageia 7, so cannot confirm whether this applies there also; but I suspect it does, and always has done. I have always wondered about having both Marble & KDE Marble, nor indeed noticed any difference.

Unsure whether this peculiarity belongs to Marble or Plasma, so assigning it to the KDE/Plasma group.

I don't see any problem here if there are multiple entries for marble

One is for launch marble on a plasma system (KDE Marble):

Exec=marble %F

The second one is for launch marble on a non plasma system (Marble):

Exec=marble-qt %F

@ David,

I think reporter said with Marble application, several apps appear in multiples categories. It is not only with Marble but also Ktnef, Kmail,...

At the limit, one app should appear in only ONE category.

Example: Kmail is a mail app and should only appears in Internet instead of Internet and Office.

For average end-user, multiples entries can be confusing, it is cluttered with too many categories to only one app.

Of course, this is a request for improvement aimed at increasing the quality of distribution as perceived by users. It is in the interest of the image of the distribution to seek the best possible ergonomics for our users. I can understand that this bug is not a priority, but taking it into account would be a plus for the release of a new version. Moreover, it does not seem to me to have seen this behavior with other linux distributions.

Thank you in advance for your interest.

Sincerely

Yeah, but if only Plasma is installed,

KDE Marble.desktop launches a well integrated application, with Breeze theme and translated UI.
Marble.desktop (marble-qt) launches a UI with oxygen-icons, in English (whereas system is French...) and feel like a second-class citizen app.

Only first one should appears in Plasma.
