The "core" version was built fine and is uploaded.
The tainted build is finishing too. Assigning to QA. Note that there are core and tainted builds. mga7, x86_64, nvidia 430.64 Started with tainted versions. Ensured that all packages were installed before updating. Updated 37 packages. Ran vlc using DestroyVLC.vlt skin (requires svlc). Played HD video in .ts format - checked pulse audio via pavucontrol. Tried a few other sound and video formats and sound only: mp4, webm, mkv, ogg, flac, wav, mp3, aiff, divx. vdpau came up in the terminal log at one point. Subtitles showed up when enabled. No regressions for these simple tests. Lacking a test for UpNp. Good for tainted here.

Switched to a partition with free versions of vlc components installed. After checking that installed vlc manifest was complete updated all the packages. Ran vlc against video and sound files with various formats: mkv, webm, mp4, ts, avi, divx, ogg, flac, wav, mp3, flv, aiff. All rendered perfectly.

Installed and tested tainted version without issues. Tested with a variety of file formats and codecs (video and audio) from the local files, a upnp/dlna media server, podcasts, http(s) and rtsp (ip cam). Also CPU and GPU (VDPAU) decoding. All worked without issues. System: Mageia 7, x86_64, Plasma DE, LXQt DE, Intel CPU, nVidia GPU using nvidia340 proprietary driver. $ uname -a Linux marte 5.6.14-desktop-2.mga7 #1 SMP Wed May 20 23:14:20 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ rpm -qa | grep vlc | sort lib64vlc5-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted lib64vlccore9-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted phonon4qt5-vlc-0.10.2-2.mga7 vlc-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-common-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-flac-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-gnutls-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-libass-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-lua-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-projectm-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-pulse-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-samba-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-speex-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-theora-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-upnp-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted vlc-plugin-vdpau-3.0.11.1-1.mga7.tainted

Also, kaffeine, mplayer, smplayer, dragon player play audio, no video. ffplay, parole, xplayer, totem, seem to be able to play the files normally. I searched and found a similar symptom in https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27377 against Cauldron. I'd say I don't use these sorts of programs constantly but it seems vlc did not have this problem not so long ago. Don't know whether this warrants a reopen, new bug, or what. Thanks.

Don't reopen a bug from a pushed update. It sounds like you can add MGA7TOO to the whiteboard in Bug 27377. Generally speaking you want to figure out the codec of the part that's not working, and then make sure you get the correct package installed for that.
