Description Juergen Harms 2020-07-07 11:59:42 CEST
Description of problem:

Cauldron (Alpha1) contains BackupPC (4.3.0-2). Since a couple of weeks (22.6.20), a new major new release 4.4.0) is availabe which contains important new features and some bug fixes. This release represents substantial added value, I think it is a must for Mageia-8

Corresponding updates have already been submitted for Fedora, CentOS. Presently some discussions on packaging are going on in

backuppc-users@lists.sourceforge.net

but there appear not to be any major problems - the timing looks ideal for Mageia-8.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have now installed the new packages and done my local customization (edit config.pl, configured my backup directory and the remote machines). No problems (and I am running Alpha 1 in production)

I do not use the features newly introduced by BackupPC 4.4 - and did not do any tests on them
