Hello, Inkscape release a new awesome version : the version 1. so please consider to update package or make a backport package for the futur version stable of Inkscape ? many many many thanks !
We already have in Cauldron: Tue May 5 2020 - New version 1.0 which should automatically be part of Mageia 8, now started testing. Assigning to its maintainer Shlomi to decide whether this can be an update or backport for Mageia 7.

Hi Elisa! (In reply to Elisa de Castro Guerra from comment #0) > Hello, > Inkscape release a new awesome version : the version 1. > so please consider to update package or make a backport package for the > futur version stable of Inkscape ? > > many many many thanks ! I am not too willing to do this for mga 7 because I recall preparing the mageia 8 package was time consuming, and it may be harder to do for mga7 due to out-of-date deps. If you wish, you can try building inkscape from source or providing a package repo using https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/ or similar. There are also very few backports here: https://mirror.isoc.org.il/pub/mageia/distrib/7.1/x86_64/media/core/backports/ .
Thanks for your response, Shlomi. In the light of which I think it would be fair to close this M7 bug Wontfix; bearing in mind that it is fixed by M8. @Elisa de Castro Guerra Do not be offended. Mageia 7 will soon be replaced by Mageia 8.

You can have it as Appimage :) I went to https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-master/gnulinux/appimage/ I looked up the latest line that had columns: Name = appimage:linux Status = passed Stage = build Downloaded it ( https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/jobs/721845944/artifacts/download ) and unpacked it, and then executed the file:Inkscape-04d0dcd-x86_64.AppImage - and it runs! (Did not test more than launching, yet)

Thanks Morgan for this info. The comment looks to have wider importance, so I elaborate on it. Some Appimage refs: https://appimage.org/ explains what it is; and includes the following applications ref: https://bintray.com/probono/AppImages This has a nice-looking long list, mostly with the version offered. Many of the applications are without descriptions. It gives their date, which is often very old: for this bug, Inkscape is shown (I think) 0.92.3 Aug 25, 2018 https://appimage.github.io/apps/ is a more compact (and I suspect fuller) list, barest description, without version or date. The Inkscape link https://appimage.github.io/Inkscape/ just shows some blurb about it, but no download link. Morgan shows the way to go: the application site. His instructions are very precise, but I could not find in the list a download link, just a long screen of console output! (The list link ended in just a long number, not the following /artifacts/download; missing something).
:) Also see the wiki page i wrote https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Ways_to_install_programs#Appimage
Sorry, use https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/jobs There find the latest line that have columns: > Name = appimage:linux > Status = passed > Stage = build Clicking to download that you will get a file named artifacts.zip Unzip the file ending in .AppImage , and run it :)
I found now you can run an .AppImage it by just double-clicking it in Dolphin.
