Description Christian Lohmaier 2020-05-29 12:44:14 CEST
Description of problem:
Many people are using videoconferencing and streaming content, but they cannot have fancy effects/fun with it since typical browser based streaming apps like jitsi or others only have no or very rudimentary video filters/input selections.

obs-studio however has lots of video processing/input-selections and scenes and whatnot, but cannot be hooked up to the browser.

The v4l2sink plugin fills that gap together with the v4l2loopback kernel module.

Additional Info:
While it is possible to simply add a v4l2loopback kernel module to mageia without too much hassle (bug#26701) it is not possible to build external plugins, since obs-studio package doesn't include development files (bug#26702)
So user would have to recompile obs-studio just to add the additional plugin.

depends on v4l2loopback kernel module/see-also obs-studio development files not being packages

This would of course apply to Cauldron/M8.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might, if there are no license or other legal issues, want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You Christian might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager

As of obs studio 26.1 this should be already integrated.

CC: (none) => mageia

Thanks.

We now have obs-studio-26.1.2-1.mga8 and obs-studio-26.1.2-4.mga9

So assuming this got fixed for both cauldron and Mageia 8

Please reopen if I'm wrong.
