I have tested this package in an HP 820 G6 laptop, it enabled sound!

Putting this on hold, the firmwares need to be shipped separately in nonfree

Switched the binaries to nonfree, and maintained the alsa-firmware upgrade as this may also enable hardware unknown by me :

SRPM:
alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.srpm
alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.srpm

RPM:
alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.noarch.rpm
alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.noarch.rpm

Keywords: feedback => (none)

Comment 5 Herman Viaene 2020-04-01 10:10:26 CEST
When trying to get the updates in QARepo I get error: alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.noarch.rpm not found in the remote repository.

@Herman, comment 5:
Yes, I found this a bit confusing. Both updates-testing and nonfree updates testing have to be enabled. Then it seems to work OK.

Leaving the stage at this point.

I have nonfree and tainted ticked on in QARepo, but there seems to be some problem with repos here and France.

Sound OK after installation and again after reboot.
