While struggling to get my GNOME desktop back when gdm was failing, I also saw in ~/.xsession-errors words to the effect that
gsettings-data-convert was respawning too quickly

How reproducible:
Start GNOME. gsd fails every time.

Comment 3 Dick Gevers 2011-09-27 22:05:56 CEST
Despite all the GNOME updates, this one persists.

only dmesg now reads ....so.0.2002.... instead of ....so.0.2918

latest instance reads:

gsettings-data-[22929]: segfault at 18 ip 00007ff704f92252 sp 00007fff62ec34f0 error 4 in libgio-2.0.so.0.2992.0[7ff704ef1000+145000]

Comment 4 Funda Wang 2011-09-28 08:25:55 CEST
still valid of gnome-settings-daemon-3.2.0-2.mga2 and libgio2.0_0-2.30.0-1.mga2?
Comment 5 Dick Gevers 2011-09-28 22:06:38 CEST
There is no more segfault. But still a lot of errors. I will attach all relevant parts of my .xession-errors.

Please judge for yourself if this is enough to consider it 'fixed'.

I would say myself: improved but still errorprone.

Despite some statements on Cauldron ML seeming to say this might be fixed, the situation as per latest comments remains unchanged.

@ Dick

(Copying Funda's question and adjusting versions)

Is this bug still valid with

gnome-settings-daemon-3.3.2-1.mga2 and libgio2.0_0-2.31.2-1.mga2 ?
