Looks like it. This one had been updated last 14 Nov. I tried to follow its comment #3, but it needed more rpms: lib64rpm9-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm lib64rpmsign9-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm perl-URPM-5.24.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm python3-rpm-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm rpm-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm rpm-plugin-syslog-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm rpm-plugin-systemd-inhibit-4.15.1-3.mga8.x86_64.rpm Auto-select is working 766 packages now, but I have other installations that may be a while to get to, so I suppose the list of manually needed packages will change and grow. Will there be a better way for the others?
There shouldn't be too many other people affected. People who choose to use cauldron are expected to follow the dev mailing list. It was explained there that people had one month to install the updates before the change in the compression method took effect. It's only cauldron users who didn't install updates during that month who will run into this problem. The updates to rpm to handle the compression change were also provided for Mageia 7, so people who upgrade from 7 in the future will not be affected. Closing this bug as a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 26124 ***

(In reply to Dave Hodgins from comment #3) > People who choose to use cauldron are expected to follow the dev mailing > list. For what definition of "follow". I've been a subscriber to dev since before Mandriva's inception. > It was explained there that people had one month to install the > updates before the change in the compression method took effect. I missed that thread. By what title? When did it start?

My apologies. I checked my archive, and there was no such message on the dev mailing list. As I follow all updates as part of qa, I was aware of the change, and alos followed the discussions on the sysadmin list too about the implementation of the change on the build system a month after the cauldron versions of urpmi was updated to handle the compression change. I mis-remembered what was announced where, when.
