Description of problem: I made a new install of Mageia 1 and was very glad to see that dual monitor support worked out of the box. I use KDE. I could not get this to work on any Linux distro with KDE later than 3.5.9. I have two monitors, each of different resolution. One is driven from the onboard card and the next from a Nvidia Gefore 6100. I do not use Xinerama. On the primary monitor (even if i switch my monitors around my editing the xorg.conf file) all the applications works as normal with window decorations that allows one to move, resize, close, minimize, maximize etc. However, on the secondary monitor no application that is opened, have these decorations so one cannot do anything with the window. It is fixed in the top left corner. It is also impossible to type in any of the text boxes. The only things that works, are mouse clicks. Since it all works correctly on the primary monitor, I am sure it must be something simple that has to be edited. I tried most of the tricks I could find on the web, like deleting the .kde4 directory etc. I also did a full automatic update on Mageia without any effect to this problem. Trying to configure the monitors with any of the Mageia tools, usually broke the dual monitor setup. It is also not possible to do it with KRandr as for some reason it always list only one monitor even if the dual setup works. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Mageia 2. Login with any user name 3. Open application on secondary monitor
Component: Release (media, process) => RPM PackagesVersion: Cauldron => 1Summary: Application windows on second monitor have no decorations => KDE: Application windows on second monitor have no decorations

Which decoration are you using ? iaora ? Just in case did you try with oxygen ? It's should probably reported upstream because i don't have anything to reproduce it (& report it upstream after ).
I tried it with every single decoration provided with the standard install and it behaved exactly the same with all of them. Perhaps this could give some more clues. http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3114545.0
(In reply to comment #2) > > http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3114545.0 Well it could be at least useful to get your ~/.xsession-errors to see if you have some errors. One more thing here is that the user *does* not use KDE with both different graphical cards on 2 monitors which is your case. Do you have the same problem by using only one graphic card (probably the nvidia's one) ? Are you also using the proprietary driver or for example the FOSS one (nouveau) ?
Problem solved!! Your comment "One more thing here is that the user *does* not use KDE with both different graphical cards on 2 monitors which is your case." triggered something in my mind. My Nvidia Geforce 6200 card indeed have 2 outputs. A DVI and an Analogue output. I was not aware that the card can actually drive one monitor from the DVI output and the other from the Analogue output but my monitors supports both inputs and I connected it up like that. However, I tried it this morning. I simply adjusted my Bios to disable the onboard graphics card and started up Mageia.I was instantly able to configure the monitors from KradR and there I could make the DVI monitor Primary and select it as standing Left of VGA1. Well, it works perfectly. Initially I was a bit confused as it constantly opened all windows on the one monitor only, until I realised that I could in fact drag the windows from one screen tot he other - which was never possible with my previous configurations. This is very nice. Now I can really start to play with Mageia and I am looking forward to the experience.
Well in fact it's not really *fixed* :/ You just use a workaround which allow you to do what you want, but it's still broken (or at least )with your initial setup which was to use 2 differents graphics card @ the same time. Closing as Worksforme

OK, I was a bit quick with saying it works 100%. Configuring it with KrandRTray caused the system to forget the setting at each reboot. However, installing the Nvidia propriety driver configured as Twinview, the settings does not get lost with a boot. I had to select the one screen as primary and the other as "Right-off" the primary screen. I have set the resolutions manually. One needs to run nvidia-settings as root in order to overwrite the xorg.conf file.
